Volkswagen-backed Chinese battery maker Gotion unveiled an “affordable” EV battery, saying it offers an over 1,000 kilometer range on a single charge, roughly double the current standard. Gotion said the lithium-manganese-iron-phosphate (LMFP) battery has passed all safety tests and its mass production will begin in 2024. Before this, LMFP materials were considered unwieldy to use in EVs.
