Is it necessary to drink 8 glasses of water every day?

We are all raised with the statement “make sure you drink enough today!” We all know we have to drink enough water in one day, but how much water is really enough? 8 glasses of water a day would be healthy and the secret to beautiful skin, but is that the case for everyone or does it vary per person how many glasses of water you have to drink per day?
